Here’s the rundown on railcards.
The 16 – 25 Railcard
- Who is it for? Those aged 16 – 25 (no points for that), and also for mature students, aged 26 or over, in full-time education.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year or a three-year railcard is available to buy online for £70.
- What will it save me? Average annual saving of £192 plus special partner discounts on days out, holidays etc.
The 26 – 30 Railcard
- Who is it for? You guessed it, those aged 26 – 30.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year.
- What will it save me? A third on most rail fares to travel across Britain for a year.
The Two Together Railcard
- Who is it for? Two named people travelling together, aged 16 or over e.g. you and the mate you go to football matches with.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year.
- What will it save me? Average annual saving of £128 a year plus special discounts on days out etc.
Family and Friends Railcard
- Who is it for? Up to four adults and four children can travel on one card.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year, or a three-year railcard is available to buy online for £70.
- What will it save me? Average annual saving of £137. Children aged between 5 15 get a 60% discount.
Disabled Persons Railcard
- Who is it for? Those that have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult and a friend.
- How much will it cost? £20 a year, or a three-year railcard is available to buy online for £54.
- What will it save me? A third off rail fares across Britain. Average annual saving – £125 plus special partner discounts.
Network Railcard?
- Who is it for? For those aged 16 or over travelling in the South-East.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year.
- What will it save me? Average annual saving of £184 plus partner discounts.
Senior Railcard
- Who is it for? Perfect for parents / grandparents – anyone aged 60 or over.
- How much will it cost? £30 a year or three-year railcard available online for £70.
- What will it save me? Average annual saving of £119 plus partner discounts.
